LookApp Free Text Explanations
This »additional function« of the reading assistent »LookApp« offers the possibility to enter or copy text into a text field. Terms within this text (that have an explanation in our database) are then highlighted with links to the videos in our sign language dictionary. Deaf persons receive explanation or description of the term in sign language. By mouseover or clicking on the term a window opens and a sign language video is played.
LookApp accesses lexicons in German sign language (Deutsche Gebärdensprache/DGS), which are constantly being expanded. Thus, more and more terms and phrases can be explained in German sign language. LookApp is also available for »Austrian Sign Language (ÖGS)«. In the future we will also offer LookApp for other sign languages.
This is why the videos in the demo-database used here are in German sign language so please use a German text or try to use one of the following words:
- abbeißen
- Abfahrt
- abhaken
- abnehmen
- Absatz
- Abschnitt
- absetzen
- Abstand
- Abwechslung
- Adrenalin

To try it out click on the plus symbol on the button Erklärungen einschalten and press Text Eingabe. A window appears where you can insert your text including one of the example words. Press Text übersetzen. Terms that are in our database will be linked to the corresponding videos.
